The official canadian preliminary to miss world®

Miss World® Canada is the official Canadian preliminary to the internationally renowned Miss World® pageant. As one of the world’s top two pageants, Miss World ® continues to break records each and every year. The Miss World® pageant is the oldest and most annually watched televised show, topping even the Olympics in its ratings. It welcomes representatives from over 120 countries and has raised a global grand total of over $500 million dollars for charity.

The Miss World® pageant is unlike any other. Its focus is on humanitarianism and philanthropy. Contestants become world ambassadors. As ambassadors, they set a powerful example for our youthful audience about how to donate their time and energy to good causes. Our Canadian partner is Variety – The Children’s Charity. Together, Miss World® Canada and Variety improve the lives of underprivileged children with special needs. Four months prior to the pageant date, all contestants across the country are marching, either in the rain or snow, determined to bring hope to the children’s of Variety, children with special needs by raising funds.

Our mission at a glance

To be an international symbol of Canadian beauty and charity.
To comfort and aid the indigent through fundraising and compassionate human outreach.
To guide each of our contestants on her path to becoming a world ambassador.
To uplift young Canadian women who have the ability to inspire youthful audiences to act selflessly.
To partner with powerful world development agencies that will help us carry out our mission around the globe.

Rewarding our contestants:
Shaping the next generation of influential canadian women

Each of our contestants – whether she becomes the Queen, the Runner-Up, or an esteemed participant – occupies an influential position within her community and within the nation at large. Undoubtedly, our delegates enjoy world recognition that opens doors to a slew of bright possibilities. Still, we at Miss World® Canada, strive to find more ways to reward our contestants for their dedication. On that note, we are thrilled to introduce two new features for the year 2012: the Development Programme and the Miss World® Canada roster.

Normally, pageant contestants are gathered a few days before crowning night and are quickly tutored in stage skills, general training, and training specific to preliminary competitions and judging. We at Miss World® Canada feel that that is too much to absorb in such a short time. The new Chairman stepped forward to announce that the Development Programme will replace the information overload method implemented by conventional pageants with a well-paced curriculum. The Programme has attracted the attention of internationally renowned coaches, each with a special interest in contributing to the development of our young generation of world ambassadors.

During the course of the Miss World® Canada pageant, we form deep relationships with all of our delegates. It is important to us that the connection we make with each contestant – not just the Queen – continues long after the pageant year has ended. As a hallmark of our long-term commitment, each Miss World® Canada delegate will be placed on our exclusive Miss World® Canada roster, which is hosted on the missworldcanada.org website. For as long as she chooses to remain on the roster, each young woman will be marketed for contractual opportunities in film, talent, hosting, and modeling. Self-improvement coaching via the Development Programme will also be available at no charge to all contestants for as long as they wish to stay on the roster. The Programme provides the perfect medium through which contestants can learn valuable life skills, gaining knowledge and experience that will help them prospect for jobs, discover and secure desirable side projects, and ultimately, prepare themselves to enter the corporate world. The international exposure contestants will gain from being featured on the roster coupled with the life skills they will learn as students of the Development Programme makes its difficult not to visualise the doors to their bright, new futures literally swinging wide open in front of them!

The new Chairman is intent on bringing Miss World® Canada’s mission statements to life. “Our goals are not just words we put on paper; they are vows that represent the very essence of who we are and what this pageant is about”, he says. As of 2012, Miss World® Canada can reintroduce itself as the first pageant, Ambassadors of our proud country, to take the international stage by storm. We stand out because we connect with the young generation on a visceral level. Our message moves them to do the most beautiful thing anyone can do: engage the young generation on a global level to help others by partnering with World Development Agencies and Universities. In her heart and in her actions, the next Miss World® Canada will share our belief that those of us who are blessed with knowledge and time should give some of it back to those in need.
