Changing the lives of children worldwide, showcasing indigenous talent, empowering young women to achieve their dreams and goals, and creating strong Canadian ambassadors for the world stage - this is what Miss World® Canada stands for.
Miss World® Canada is part of the Miss World® pageant family, which remains the oldest and largest in the world. The Miss World® pageant is the most watched annually televised show, even beating out the Olympics in its ratings. Each year, the pageant continues to break records by attracting participants from over 126 countries as well as a diverse myriad of viewers.
We at Miss World® Canada are proud to lead the pageant world as the first to undertake a global humanitarian mission alongside a unique contestant development programme introduced in June 2012.
Our pageant prides itself on its philanthropic focus and is part of an international Miss World® movement that partners with charitable organizations, including local NGO Variety - The Children’s Charity, to raise funds to improve the quality of life of one of our nation’s most vulnerable groups: indigent children with special needs. To date, contestants across the globe have raised over five hundred million dollars. Canadian contestants become ardent fundraisers as soon as they are accepted into the pageant; that is, six months before they appear on stage at our annual Grand Crowning Gala. On that magical night, we do much more than simply select a winner to be Canada’s ambassador to the world. We join with businesses, members of the national community, and special guests from all around the globe to celebrate the essence of “Beauty with a Purpose” by thanking all of our contestants for the time they have spent doing humanitarian work. Picture them scattered across the country, marching, come rain or snow, determined to bring hope and much-needed funds to children in need. What a powerful example for the youthful audiences about how to donate their time and energy to good causes!
It is important to us that the connection we make with each contestant continues long after each pageant year ends. As a reward for their selflessness, all contestants from every pageant year are invited to join our Development Programme and exclusive web-based Miss World® Canada roster. For as long as she chooses to remain enrolled in the programme and featured on the roster, each young woman will have access to the perfect medium through which contestants can work as a team on various humanitarian projects throughout the country and beyond. Contestants also have the opportunity to learn valuable leadership and life skills from our world-renowned coaching partners, including Dale Carnegie Training, Christopher Howard Training, Anthony Robbins, and Deepak Chopra. Participants gain knowledge and experience that will help them prospect for jobs, discover and secure desirable side projects, and ultimately, prepare to enter the corporate world. But Miss World® Canada does not stop there. We make a long-term commitment to each member of the Miss World® family by retaining a team of specialists to market contestants’ skills and talents to the entertainment and corporate worlds - at no cost to the contestants. This is where Miss World® Canada takes pride in truly empowering young Canadians.
Over the years, this pageant has positively transformed the lives of many contestants who use the opportunities we create to brand themselves with prestige and dignity, and make their dreams come true. The winners of Miss World® Canada receive an all-expense paid trip to compete in the Miss World® pageant in addition to various scholarships, prizes, and leadership opportunities, but participating in Miss World® Canada could be the first step to endless versions of a brighter future.
